Day 291/365 - Stan’s Pumpkin on Flickr.The origin of Halloween - well, one of them, anyway - was in the offerings left out for the souls of the dead who would visit the homes of the living on Samhain. Feasts were held where these souls were invited to attend - the Trick or Treat portion of the holiday. The pumpkins (originally turnips) were carved and lit to act as beacons to light the way for these wandering souls. 
So, here’s hoping that Stan found his way home… .
